Seller note:

We are selling our C&C Redwing 30 sailboat that is currently located at Collins Bay Marina in Kingston, Ontario. Don't let her age prevent you from giving this boat a closer inspection. This boat has been extensively restored and upgraded over the years. Indeed, she may be in better condition than boats half her age!
Background Information:
The Redwing 30 is an early C&C racer/cruiser design that was built by Hinterhoeller Boatyard before C&C had their own boatyard. The lines of the Redwing 30 are based on Red Jacket, a 40 foot C&C design racer that was the 1968 S.O.R.C. winner. As you can tell from the photos above, Ayrborn is very pleasing to eye and as a racer/cruiser, she is still competitive for the race course or for just catching up to a boat you see on the horizon.
The Redwing 30 was specifically designed for speed with a high ballast to displacement ratio, a low-wetted surface and a high aspect sail plan. In light airs, her low-wetted surface permits her to outperform many boats her size. When the wind picks up and she starts to heel while going windward, her waterline increases for greater hull speed as her overhangs on her bow and stern come in contact with the surface of the water.
Her interior layout is traditional and includes teak bulkheads and trim. The private V-berth in the bow sleeps two and features a privacy door and shelving running the length of both sides of the double berth. Just aft is a private head that uses a holding tank with dockside pumpout. The head also includes a sink with a vanity. Her galley is to starboard and features a top-loading icebox, alcohol stove, stainless sink with manual water system and storage above and below her counters. The dinette is to port and can be converted to a double berth. This boat also features a quarter berth that sleeps one, bringing her total accommodations to five. Outside is her large cockpit (7.5 ft long) that is uncluttered and provides great access to the foredeck. Aft of the cockpit is a lazarette that provides plenty of room to dry yourself off after a swim before stepping into the cockpit. She is powered by a Universal 30 hp Atomic-4 Inboard that has been very well maintained and upgraded.
As is the case with boats of her vintage, Ayrborn was built strong. In the 1960s, fiberglass was a new boat building material, so boatyards like Hintehoeller Boatyard tended to overbuild their boats as a means to "err" on the side of safety. In the case of Redwing 30s, each bulkhead, bunktop and shelf is bedded and laminated to the hull. The cabin-stepped mast is supported by two bulkheads laminated to the hull that transfer the weight of the mast and the forces generated by the sail to the hull. In addition to these structural supports, it is my understanding that the thickness of the fiberglass hull built in the 1960s is typically thicker than hulls built later.
